Laffs4Kids is now in its sixth year, and the next show will take place on Sunday 13th December 2020 at Newcastle City Hall!
Produced and compèred by award-winning comedian Jason Cook, the show is a fantastic feel-good Christmas event bringing together some of the best comedy stand-up acts, well known faces from TV and some extra special guests too.
The cost of entry is just £5 to reserve a seat (before Ticketmaster booking fees), and a Christmas present for a disadvantaged child.
Due to the incredible demand for Laffs4Kids tickets we’re once again holding a matinée performance at 1:00pm, as well as the original show at 6:00pm!
The event is the brainchild of Jason Cook, who discovered in 2015 while presenting Metro Radio’s late night talk-show Night Owls, that 40,000 local children were living in poverty, and could wake up on Christmas morning without a single present.
He pledged to help the station charity Cash for Kids put this right, contacted his comedy friends, arranged to put on a gig for free with a toy instead of a ticket, and Laffs4Kids was born!
Cash for Kids annual Mission Christmas campaign aims to make sure that no child gets forgotten at this special time of year. Through a network of businesses, shops, community groups and the public, they collect tens of thousands of gifts each November and December which are then distributed to some of the most disadvantaged children right here in the North East.
In 2015, the Laffs4Kids audience donated over 3,000 presents, in 2016 this increased to more than 5,000 and in 2017 it rose to over 6,800!
Each year there is an increase in demand for these gifts as families struggle to cope with financial restraints. Across the North East one in four children are living in poverty, and the priority of their parents or carers has to be food and warmth rather than luxuries such as presents for Christmas morning. Together we can help to change that.
We want Laffs4Kids 2020 to be even bigger to meet this demand. Every child should be able to have a Christmas.
Tickets are priced at £5 and available online, plus remember to bring a new and unwrapped Christmas gift!
Cash for Kids will collect all gifts on the night and distribute everything received to children across the North East who could wake up to no presents without our help. Find out more about the charity and their Mission Christmas appeal here, and if you can’t make it to the show but would still like to support Cash for Kids you can make an online donation.
