Cash for Kids is the official charity of Metro Radio.
Every year the charity raises millions of pounds for local children and young people across the North East who are suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs, or who simply need extra care and guidance.
Cash for Kids runs a huge variety of fundraising events both on and off-air on Metro Radio, and wants to encourage individuals, groups, schools and companies to jump on board, join the fun and offer a helping hand to disadvantaged children in their communities. They are tuned into our area and know which organisations are in need of support and how to best provide financial assistance.
Grants awarded go towards buying specialist equipment for children to enhance their quality of life. They are given to children’s charities and organisations to help them undertake projects and new initiatives or to ensure that much needed services can continue to provide essential care and support.
All the money raised on behalf of Cash for Kids stays right here in the North East, providing a helping hand when and where it is needed most.
Cash for Kids Mission Christmas
The latest poverty statistics, courtesy of Save the Children, reveal that 1 in 3 children across the North East are classed as living in poverty. That means tens of thousands of kids could wake up to nothing this Christmas morning.
With Mission Christmas Cash for Kids wants to help change this. They’re asking you to buy an extra present to be given to a disadvantaged local child to make their Christmas special.
Cash for Kids needs new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0-18 years, and they can be donated on the night at Laffs4Kids, or at hundreds of other drop off points across the region. See the map to find your nearest one.
