Christmas comedy show Laffs4Kids is returning for its fifth successive year and will once again be aiming to make sure no child in the North East goes without a toy on Christmas morning.
The annual festive spectacular, the brainchild of award winning Newcastle comedian and writer Jason Cook, features top comedians, entertainers and well-known faces from TV all giving up their own time free of charge in order to give thousands of disadvantaged children a special Christmas.
Billed as the “happiest comedy show you have ever been to” for one specific reason, the entry fee is simply a new and unwrapped Christmas present for a disadvantaged child. The North East community have certainly delivered, with over 25,000 presents donated on the day over the last four years.
Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaign then distributes the gifts to children most at risk of being forgotten this Christmas. These are children from families dealing with issues such as sickness, bereavement, poverty, disability and those in the care system.
Over the last four year’s the line-up has included Chris Ramsey, Sarah Millican, Tim Healy, Gary Delaney, Rosie Ramsey and Britain’s Got Talent stars Daliso Chaponda and 2018 Winner Lost Voice Guy.
Northumbrian Water have once again committed to sponsoring the event for the third year running. Their teams support this event through collecting toys, organising sponsored activities, fundraising and volunteering at the event and in the Mission Christmas warehouse too.
Jason Cook said: “This event is the ultimate feel-good Christmas event and just keeps growing year on year. I always make sure all of the acts go along to the entrance and see the audience lined up outside with bags full of toys to donate. That’s what it’s all about, putting smiles on children’s faces. I can’t thank Northumbrian Water enough for their continued support, they really take this campaign to their heart and their teams go the extra mile to make it a success.”
Louise Hunter, Director of Corporate Communications at Northumbrian Water commented: “You can’t help but get a really heart-warming feeling from Laffs4Kids, it’s such a unique event that uses a shared love of comedy to do amazing things for thousands of North East families. Our people love getting involved and this year we hope to do even more for children who really need our support. Laffs4Kids is such a simple idea and so effective in making a difference to the community that we work in, which is very important to us as a company. We’re looking forward to getting involved throughout the Mission Christmas campaign.”
This year’s event will take place on Sunday 15th December at Newcastle O2 City Hall. The evening show is sold out, but a small selection of tickets are available for the matinee show.
Entry fee is a new and unwrapped Christmas present, there is also a seat reservation fee of £5 to ensure there are seats for all. The full line-up will be unveiled in the next few weeks and will once again be a feast of well-known comedy faces, musicians and some surprises too.
